Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles – Electronic Recording and Transcript Ordering

Access electronic recordings and court transcripts quickly, easily and securely online.

As a service provider to the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles (LASC), For The Record is offering attorneys and litigants the ability to easily access electronic recordings and transcripts from electronic recordings from August 2018 onwards.

The For The Record service is available for limited jurisdiction and civil cases including small claims, debt collection, unlawful detainers and traffic offenses. Cases heard in select departments at participating courthouses have access to this service. See list.

Order from LASC – lacourt.org

  • If your case was heard in the above courthouses before August 1, 2018 or was held in another courthouse.
  • If you require a transcript or electronic recording for an Appeal.

Order from FTR

  • For transcripts and electronic recordings after August 2018 from participating courthouses, order below.

To order a transcript, click on an Order a transcript button to access FTR’s online transcript ordering portal.

Before doing so, please ensure you have the following details on hand:

  • Case data including case number, title, date/s, courthouse / department, presiding judge, and name of parties.
  • Select Half or Full Day transcript or include specific times to be transcribed.
  • Required turnaround time and delivery type for transcript.
    • 1 day | 3 day | 7 day | 14 day | 30 day
    • Printed transcript | Electronic transcript | Additional printed transcripts
  • Any supporting documents you wish to upload including the minute order, and additional information that will assist in the production of the transcript.

You will be asked to register your details with For The Record’s online transcript ordering portal and provide a credit card to securely pay for the transcript.

Upon ordering a transcript, a cost estimate will be provided for your acceptance and a pre-authorization hold for this amount will be placed on your credit card.

Upon submitting your order, write down your order number for future reference.

  • Eligibility for fee waivers need to be directed to LASC.

  • Transcripts are available for limited civil cases, electronically recorded in select courtrooms from August 2018.
  • For transcripts of cases heard prior to this time, in different courtrooms or for Appeals, please contact LASC.
  • A separate FTR transcript and FTR electronic ordering account needs to be set up although the same username and password can be used for both if desired.

To request access to an electronic recording, follow the steps below:

  • Click on the Order a recording button.
  • Create an account to access electronic recordings with For The Record.
  • Enter case number, case title, date, courthouse, courtroom and the time period you would like (start and end time).
  • You’ll also be requested to enter your credit card details.
  • To submit, click ‘Place Order’ and you will receive a confirmation number and order number. (Any orders not completed will be deleted when you exit the site.)
  • When the electronic recording is ready, you’ll receive a notification email with the relevant order number and a link to playback your electronic recording through your web browser.

  • The electronic recordings are priced per case per day. Multiple orders will need to be placed for multiple days.
