Do I need to install this version?

If you are running Reporter version 5.4 or above in a Windows 7 environment, we recommend you update to 5.6.2.

If you are running a version of Reporter lower than 5.4, there has never been a better time to upgrade your FTR Reporter software – especially since Windows XP will no longer be supported by Microsoft as of April 2014.

How do I apply the update?

Updating from FTR Reporter 5.6.1 to 5.6.2
Upgrading from FTR Reporter version 5.5.x (or below) to 5.6.2
Installing FTR Reporter 5.6.2 on a new machine
Updating from FTR Reporter 5.6.1 to 5.6.2

After contacting FTR via the form above, an email will be sent to you with a link to the FTR Reporter 5.6.2 Update. Click the link and download the installation files.

Setup instructions:

Log on as a user with administrator rights before starting the installation program.
Double-click the update file (FTRReporter562-setup-b009.exe) to launch the setup.
Follow the prompts until the setup is complete.
Upgrading from FTR Reporter version 5.5.x (or below) to 5.6.2

After contacting FTR, you will receive links for the 5.6.1 installation file and the FTR Reporter 5.6.2 Update. The serial number and activation codes will also be sent. Click the links and download the installation files.

Note: Uninstall previous versions before installing the new version and update.

Step 1: Install FTR Reporter 5.6.1

Log on to your PC with administrator rights, and double-click to expand the 5.6.1 installation file. Run the setup program.
In the “Serial Number” dialog box, enter your serial number and activation code (sent by email). > Click Next
In the “Location Name” dialog box, enter the location name for the venue that this computer will be recording > Click Next.
In the “Location Name Change” dialog box, select or clear the “Permit all users…” checkbox as required. (You can allow users to change the location name after installation. This is typically required when the computer is portable and the location name changes frequently) > Click Next
In the “Recordings Folder” dialog box, select the disk drive to store recordings (It is recommended that you choose a separate physical disk drive that is used exclusively for recordings) > Click Next
From the “Enable Remote Access” dialog box, select or clear the checkbox as required (Select the checkbox if this recorder is to be remotely monitored or managed using FTR Monitor™ or The Record Manager – Warehouse Edition and enter the domain and user group that includes all FTR users requiring access to the local recordings folder for remote monitoring). Clear the checkbox if not remotely managed. > Click Next
From the “Visual Basic Editor” dialog box, select or clear the checkbox as required. (Warning: Do not select this checkbox unless the user is a competent Visual Basic® programmer). > Click Next
From the “Start Copying Files” dialog box, check the installation settings are correct. > Click Next
The software will now install. When the “InstallShield Wizard Complete” dialog box is displayed. > Click Finish

Step 2: Configure FTR Reporter 5.6.1

See the FTR Reporter Help or the User’s Guide for assistance with the following steps:

On startup, FTR Reporter displays Recording Options. Configure the options to suit your needs.
If you intend to install the optional FTR Mixer, you can skip this step. After FTR Mixer is installed, return to Recording Options, and configure your settings.
Configure FTR Reporter Archiving and Backup options before using the program.
If FTR Monitor remotely controls this computer, it is recommended that you configure Network Archiving.
Configure the Log Sheet and Template save location and other Administration settings in General Options.

Step 3: Upgrade from 5.6.1 to 5.6.2

Double-click the update file (FTRReporter562-setup-b009.exe) to launch the setup.
Follow the prompts until the setup is complete.

Installing FTR Reporter 5.6.2 on a new machine

These instructions apply to customers who wish to install FTR Reporter 5.6.2 on a new machine. After contacting FTR or your reseller, you will receive the 5.6.2 installation file along with a valid serial number and activation codes. Click the link and download the installation file.

Step 1: Install FTR Reporter 5.6.2

Log on to your PC with administrator rights, and double-click to expand the 5.6.2 installation file. Run the setup program.
In the “Serial Number” dialog box, enter your serial number and activation code (sent by email). > Click Next
